Staff and Volunteers of CEF®

CEF depends on many people who make things work. There are people that are out in the open as well as people who are working hard and faithfully behind the scenes. CEF has very few paid workers, relying primarily on volunteers who do the praying, paying for resources, organizing programs, teaching the kids, and keeping the office organized. This page is dedicated to those hard workers.

CEF paid Workers

Director: Don Colburn

Don Colburn joined the staff in 1999 after serving as a volunteer and treasurer. Seeing Nancy's godly lifestyle and a heart for kids that made a timid woman able to face antagonistic men, he realized how important the ministry is. When God taught Don that God's strength is unleashed when we trust Him with our human limits, he jumped in as local director to free Nancy to do what she does so well. He brings a burden to reach public schools where, as a teacher, he wore a gag for decades. He opens clubs, teaches some and helps train teachers, but really focuses on building bridges to churches, office work and troubleshooting. The highlight of his year is going to training school with the summer missionaries.

Field Worker: Nancy Cone

Nancy Cone has served as Centre County Field Worker since 1974. The focus of her ministry is teaching children in clubs and providing training to equip others to reach children. This includes teacher training for local churches and Good News Club teachers. Nancy also serves as a local instructor for Teaching Children Effectively Level 1 and 2, two 30-hour college level courses that help equip individuals to teach children the Gospel and establish them in their walk with God. Each summer, Nancy works with the summer missionary teams to help prepare them for summer ministry.

Field Worker: Marie Fishburn

Marie Fishburn joined the CEF volunteer team in 1997. Currently, she enjoys teaching/helping in 3 Released Time Clubs and 1 Good News Club. When school is out, she helps with the CEF camp and fair ministry. She also uses her CEF training wherever God sends her to be with children. As a Field Worker, she helps Don or Nancy find volunteers, communicate with schools, organize clubs or children's activities, and raise funds.

Committee

CEF is operated by a volunteer committee which meets at least once a month to decide how to guide the organization. All aspects of the organization are decided on by this committee. Topics under consideration at a typical meeting include direction on monetary spending, fund raising, conflict management, getting new CEF programs up and running, and other decisions that need to be made. If you would like any information on the committee, please use the Contact page to send us a message.

Volunteers

The volunteers are the true workers of CEF. These are the people that are week after week in the classrooms teaching and training the children. All volunteers must have all proper child protection paperwork in place before having any contact with children. We need volunteers from inside the schools as well as people from outside to assist. If you would like any information on being a volunteer, please use the Contact page to send us a message.
